Assuming everything goes as planned, in the next 48 hours an
organized pile of wood will become the thick lines of a building. In the
last five months trees felled in Calais and East Montpelier were sent limbless
to Hardwick where feral geometries were cut way. Most of those incisions
necessary to turn many individuals into one complex whole have been made and we
are ready to make the transition from an idea of a form to a place.
I’ve heard it said that a tree is fifty years growing, fifty
years living and fifty years dying.
I doubt this little building will add another 150 years of constitution
to the wood that composes it, maybe it will. Regardless, they’ll serve a civil
purpose more than thier peers hosting and composting into the earth again.
How beautiful Jake!
ReplyDeleteThis lumber was lucky to be revered and molded by many good and thoughtful hands. I love you,
